In the Spotlight - Brilliant Beads and Bling AND Little Tee Tee Trims

3 Days to Go!!!

The next to 'spotlights' hold a common thread.  Both the ladies behind these businesses not only LOVE creating things themselves but they also love to help others get creative!

Brilliant Beads and Bling is a family run business based in Saratoga.  After being a community worker for the last 20 years, working in the areas of child abuse and domestic violence, Leanne found that jewellery making provided a welcome respite from that part of my life.  She now works full time in her business and specialises in handmade beaded, crystal and gemstone jewellery.

Leanne offers jewellery parties on the Central Coast & hosts 'Bead and Chat' each Wednesday 10am to 12.30pm in Saratoga. The friendly & relaxed group works on different projects each week & no prior beading experience is needed.

Speak to Brilliant Beads and Bling on Sunday and get creating!!!  Leanne can also be contacted through her facebook page HERE.

The next stallholder has been a regular face at the Handmade Craft Market for over a year near & you have probably watched her business grow each market.

Little Tee Tee started out as a boutique for special-occasion dresses for little girls. After scouring the world for gorgeous embellishments for her clothing range, Suzan decided to share her 'finds' with the crafting community.  Little Tee Tee is now renown for their doilies, gem-stoned appliques, fabric embellishments, rhinestone buttons & laces.

Visit the Little Tee Tee stall on Sunday to pick up a bag full of goodies to help you complete whatever sewing/crafting project you have in mind.  Start your shopping list by popping over to facebook here.

In the Spotlight - Creations by Wool

I LOVE hearing the story behind some of our stallholders.  Thanks to the lovely Edwina for sharing her story about how Creations by Wool began earlier this year.

"Creations by Wool commenced in March 2012 when my mother started knitting Barbie clothes for her two grand-daughters. Many designs later I approached mum about the idea of starting a facebook business page featuring her designs which were practical as well as trendy.

As Barbie’s wardrobe was now complete we decided to feature other designs for young girls including knitted headbands, ear warmers with many and varied embellished designs.

With the creative juices flowing Creations by Wool was slowly expanding and over the ensuing months we have tapped into children’s and adult hair accessories followed by a small range of felt Christmas tree decorations.

Unfortunately I haven’t managed the art of knitting, so maybe sometime in the near future I may overcome this and become an avid knitter.

Mum and I consult with one another on a regular basis discussing new designs and sourcing new embellishments etc.  Our harshest critics are my two daughters who seem to have an unfailing opinion on each new design.

Inspiration is drawn upon from many areas but mainly we just love ‘creations’ that are pretty, feminine, current and cost effective for our customers.

We are both very proud of what we have achieved and is a constant challenge in creating new designs that we hope our customers will like.

Creations by Wool is now featuring at some of the local markets where we are hoping to attract a loyal following."

Be sure to swing by this creative duo's stall on August 19th.  You can start preparing your shopping list by looking through their gorgeous creations online HERE too.

Contact us also through our facebook page www.facebook.com/creationsbywool

The wait is over! Handmade Craft Market - Sun 19th Feb 2012!!!

Things are heating up in houses across the Central Coast (&beyond) tonight as last minute preparations for tomorrows market get underway.  I can imagine buttons being attached, garments being ironed, swing tags being written, stock being counted & cars being packed.

Yes, tonight is a huge night in the majority of stallholders homes. Unless of course, they're a tad more organised than myself!  I get to about now & realise I have all of the above to do, plus I've forgotten to go to the bank for a cash float!

(stock ready to go: clockwise from top left - Best Dressed Cookies; Rachelle Rachelle; Little Tee Tee; Just Like Katie)

Regardless of the last minute dramas, each & every one of us is looking forward to a great day of trading tomorrow.  Come & say hi.  We love to meet our customers face-to-face & have a natter.

Don't forget that the venue has changed & we'll be here:

Aunty Treenie is quite new on the market scene (this will be her 3rd market ever) but she's no novice when it comes to sewing!

Katrina (aka Aunty Treenie herself) makes gorgeous vintage aprons/ tea towels for adults and kids.  I've smiled & giggled through a fair few of her facebook albums - loads of cute prints including rather handsome cowboys, retro caravan scenes, & cute owls.

What I love about Aunty Treenie is that she's thought outside the box & creates Special Needs products such as Peeka Bags and weighted blankets, autism specific products and beautiful adult dignity bibs, made of both classic materials and trendy vintage fabrics.

Stop by Aunty Treenie's stall this Sunday at our Handmade Craft Market.  You'll leave with a smile upon your face after looking at (& purchasing!) heaps of fun items in those delightful fabrics!

Ok, so some of the terms in this introduction may not make sense unless you're a collector.  But if you happen to be one,  this next stallholder will be sure to interest you!

Robyn has been enjoying making bears for approx 15 years & describes her designs as contemporary, colourful, with each having personality, attitude & individuality. Each bear is larger than life and definitely very cuddly! Not only is Robyn creating the bears herself, she also takes pleasure in teaching the craft at one day workshops to her students.

Not content with just bear-making, Robyn has recently explored PAVERPOL statues and Flower Buddies are other creative ventures. (there's some of those names I was referring too)
So what can you expect at the Gunnies Collectables stall?

In the Spotlight - Ready Made Recipes

With the flavours of Christmas treats but a distant memory now I thought it time appropriate to introduce you to Ready-Made Recipes

Ready-Made Recipes make perfect gifts for the less experienced chef, teens or even for the elderly who have trouble measuring. All of the dry ingredients are in the jar or packet. You just add very simple ingredients you should already have on-hand and cook it.

I LOVE this concept  for so many reasons but to name just a few ...
  • Each gift keeps for up to a year and are great for any occasion. Rainy day activity? School holiday boredom buster?
  • You can give them away or keep them for yourself.
  • They are convenient to have in the cupboard for that last minute meal if your too busy to plan dinner, or if you are invited to a dinner party and you don't know what to bring. Especially if food is not your forte.

Happy New Year from everyone at the Handmade Craft Market!

I'm lounging on our sun-scorched deck, watching the kids construct a cubbyhouse under the table, listening to the ocean & taking in the breeze of summer.  Not a bad way to bring in 2012 on the Central Coast!

We trust everyone had a fulfilling Christmas surrounded by the ones you love (whether they were in the same room or via Skype or via great memories) & you're now looking forward to achieving great things in 2012.

Our next Handmade Craft Market will be held on February 19 in our new location at the Bridgecoast Stadium. This new location is very exciting for us as it offers so much more space meaning we can accept even more boutique stallholders offering the best of handmade, handcrafted or handgrown creations.  We look forward to seeing you there!

On behalf of all the present & past (& even future!) Handmade Craft Market stallholders ... We wish you the happiest of New Years.
